As Senior Product Manager, I led the expansion of Western Union’s Stage & Pay digital service into 27 EUCIS countries, a key strategic move to scale WU’s in-person and online transaction capabilities across Europe. While the core functionality of Stage & Pay remained consistent—enabling users to initiate a money transfer digitally and complete it in person at a WU agent location—the rollout presented unique localization, regulatory, and UX challenges per country. Key activities included: Coordinating regulatory compliance efforts with local legal and financial authorities for each country Leading multi-language and culturally relevant UI/UX adjustments to improve engagement and usability in each market Working closely with engineering and QA teams to adapt the platform infrastructure for fast localization and stable delivery Conducting user research and competitor benchmarking in high-priority regions to tailor features and communications In parallel, I led digital product enhancements for the UK market, where Western Union faced mounting competition from fintech disruptors like TransferWise (now Wise), Revolut, and legacy financial services. This included: Streamlining the digital onboarding and transfer process Reducing friction in KYC and payment steps Improving visual design and UX performance on mobile
