WuHu was conceived to challenge and improve the gig-based delivery model dominated by platforms like Uber and Deliveroo. Designed from the ground up, WuHu empowered local, independent couriers and courier service providers by offering a platform where they could set their own rates, choose their preferred jobs, and build lasting relationships with local businesses. As founder and product lead, I shaped the platform’s tri-party model, balancing the needs of three distinct user groups: couriers, businesses, and end customers. The system consisted of: A mobile courier app (iOS and Android) that let couriers: Set personal delivery rates Accept or reject delivery requests Track earnings in real time Build direct business relationships Use a secure delivery protocol via dynamic pick-up/delivery codes A web app for local businesses to: Find and customize courier services Book on-demand deliveries by hour or per order Track deliveries and communicate with couriers Monitor order history and invoicing A partner web platform for courier service providers to: Onboard couriers Link them via the mobile app Monetize and manage their own courier networks What set WuHu apart was the unique delivery protocol: a dynamic code system for pickup and drop-off that ensured security, delivery confirmation, and automatic payment release. Led the product development lifecycle from idea to release, collaborating with a distributed development team to build and iterate on a technically complex, regulation-compliant product in a highly competitive market. I also personally managed branding, go-to-market strategy, business admin, and stakeholder relations.
WuHu remains a standout example of a courier-first platform rooted in local empowerment and product innovation.
